Description of Elective Experience:
Overall experience will encompass preventive care medicine, routine surgeries (OVH, castration, cystotomy, enterotomy), dental prophylactic care, medicine in primary care setting
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
Fully functioning, full staffed multi-doctor hospital (5+ DVMs) with a VT and nurses. Dental cleaning unit and Gas anesthesia with routine monitoring devices (SPO2, NIBP, EtCO2, Doppler, ECG) for surgery unit.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
Full time (4 to 5 days a week) of combination of shadowing (for in-room apps) and hand-on (for surgical assitance, dental cleaning, anesthesia monitoring) is expected
