Description of Elective Experience:
We are a three doctor mixed animal practice where students can shadow and assist in appointments, surgeries and farm calls.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
The practice has a staff of six support personel, including 3 registered technicians. We consistantly perform in house diagnostics such as a broad spectrum of bloodwork, urinalysis, cytologies, fecals and digital radiology. There is a ambulaotry unit which performs farm calls, including on farm or in clinic surgeries.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
Students are expected to be present for 40 hours a week, with the office being open 8:30-6:00 Monday-Friday and Saturday 8:30-12:00. They will be encouraged to shadow everything that goes on as well as perform or assist with tasks that they are competant to perform.
