Students will be paired with Doctors and Tecnicians to be involved in all surgical and medical procedures possible. You will assist in procedures and, depending upon individual skills and learned experience, may be allowed to perform various Surgical and Medical procedures under direct guidance of a Technician or Doctor. We want students to get hands-on exposure. We have a complete practice, offering advanced ear care with video otoscopes, complete sugical and advanced surgical techniques, lapaoscopy, endocsopy, arthroscopy, dentistry, and more. We also offer experience in many diagnostic and therapy modalities (see staffing and equipment resource tab). Client education is a primary goal of this practice. Client communication will be encouraged, inlcuding history-taking and charting.
This practice has been a leader in offering advanced procedures for 30 years. We perform laparoscopy, rhinoscopy, arthroscopy, upper and lower endoscopy, otoscopy, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. All anesthetic cases are ventilated and completely monitored. We perform regenerative medicine- PRP and stem cell therapy to treat arthritis and other conditions. Our in-house IDEXX laboratory provides clients with same-day answers, while less common tests can be sent out. We have digital radiography as well as a GE ultrasound with color doppler. In addition to traditional radiographs, we also have a Nomad hand-held radiology unit and dental radiology. In surgery, we have an Ellman radiosurgery unit and Ligasure, bone plating and external fixature systems, and TTA hardware. Our class 4B therapeutic laser is used on most post-op incisions in addition to pain management of other patients. We use Clientrax software for all scheduling, billing, and charting (fully electronic medical records). Our staff of registered technicians and assistants are well-trained and willing to teach.
Students are expected to bring enthusiasm, energy and perspective. Questions and input are welcome. We expect dedication and a drive for self-improvement. Hours are flexible within the hours we are open (M-W 9-7, Th-Sa 9-5, closed Su). We can provide as much hands-on experience as you like, and can work on skills you wish to improve. The more involved you get, the more you will learn!
