Overall Small animal general practice exposure involving routine preventative care procedures including examinations, vaccinations, and dental prophylaxis. General primarily soft tissue surgeries including primarily neuters, ovariohysterectomies, and growth removals. Occasional canine c-sections or small animal exploratory surgeries. Focus on client education.
Two doctor, 2 vet tech clinic with general surgical facility including electrocautery, isoflurane has anesthetic machine, and oxygen generator. Clinic also utilizes laser therapy, full pharmacy and general CBC and blood chemistry analyzer. CR digital Xray system.
Student will be directed primarily by either one of the two doctors or by technicians depending on jobs being performed at that time. Student may assist in surgeries, patient examinations, vaccine administrations, blood draws, catheter placements, client interactions and education. Student will also be involved with case evaluations and diagnoses. Students are expected to work 8-5 weekdays. 1 hour is given each day for lunch.
Student housing would be at supervisor's home residence if student wishes. No costs involved, amenities include general household items and facilities.
