At Ashland Animal Clinic, we are a general practice that provides a comprehensive learning experience at a moderate to fast pace. Students will enjoy the benefit seeing a large variety of patients and disesase processes. We perform routine and non routine surgeries Monday through Friday. Beyond basic diagnostic abilities, we offer in-house bloodwork, digital radiology, abdominal and thoracic ultrasound, and dental radiology. Avian and exotic patients are seen occassionally.
Students are expected to be on premises during appointment hours, although these hours change depending on scheduling. This is usually from 8:30a-6p Monday through Friday, with a 1-3 hour lunch. Saturday appointments are from 9a-12p. Student duties will range from observation to complete appointment work-up or complete surgical procedure. How much oversite the student receives will depend on the student's ablilities and the case/surgery difficulty. Traditionally, students are allowed plenty of freedom, as long as the student has demonstrated responsibility and ability.
