Description of Elective Experience: 

We offer a view of a busy truly mixed animal practice, with about 50-60% cats and dogs and 40- 50% large animals, including bovine, equine, porcine, cervid, caprine and ovine species. There is an opportunity for experience in advanced reproductive techniques in cows, horses, small ruminants, and during season, cervids.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

We currently have 1 doctor that is all small animal and 3 doctors that are primaraily large animal but also fill in small animal. We have dedicated receptionists, small animal technicians, and dedicated large animal technician. In large animal, we have portable x-ray and ultrasound with 3 fully equipped trucks. In-house, we have x-ray and laboratory.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

The student will shadow the doctors depending on interests and case load and will be expected to shadow 5 days a week and be available for after hours emergencies.
