Description of Elective Experience: 

West Plains Veterinary Hospital works primarily with livestock and stock show animals with a strong focus in swine. Experience with small animal medicine and surgeries is available on a smaller scale.

West Plains Veterinary Hospital staff averages about 10 full time and part time employees. The clinic utilizes Idexx equipment such as the Laser Cyte, Catalyst One, and the I-Vision CR for digital radiography as well as the Cornerstone computer program.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

West Plains Veterinary Hospital incorporates a mixture of hands on and shadowing experience. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30am-12:30pm and 2:00pm-6:00pm, but work hours will vary as needed for all patients and clients to been seen and taken care of. Dr. Jimmy Gleason also has some weekends that he travels to bigger farm operations to work on swine and occasionally cattle.
