Description of Elective Experience:
The student will be shadowing the veterinarian as he goes through typical work week. The student can expect to see/assist with Bangs vaccinating of heifers, spay/neuter small animals, equine dental work, and any type and number of unpredictable emergency services.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
Our clinic has one veterinarian and one secretary/bookkeeper/vet assistant. The student will learn how a veterinarian in a rural practice is resourceful and self-reliant.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
The student will be expected to be available to shadow/assist the veterinarian Monday through Friday approximately 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and part day on Saturday.
