North Central Veterinary Emergency Center, IN

Description of Elective Experience: 

This is an off site learning experience where students will work side by side with our emergency doctor on cases at our clinic for the two week rotation while s/he is at our institution. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

We have a staff of nine emergency veterinarians and approximately forty technical team members.  We have a full laboratory suite and surgical suites, digital radiology, ultrasound all integrated in our practice management software system.  Students will have access to all of of our doctors along with three crititcal care residents from Purdue University and their Critical Care doctor team as well.  We have access to journals provided by the critical care doctors as well as VIN. 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Students will work 35-40 hours during their two week visit at our facilty.  They will have an opportunity to work with various practitioners and work both day and evening shifts to get a better overview of the business.
