We are a HVHQSN low cost clinic that focuses on spay/neuter, but we also do many other kinds of surgery because of our large rescue base. We do dentals and rabbits as well. It would be a fast paced, packed learning experience with a lot of surgical experience. A lot of perfecting your surgical technique, hands on dental work, and constant learning in a fun, supportive environment.
We are fully staffed with several assistants, RVTs, tech students, and 3 veterinarians. We have IDEXX blood machines and a basic lab. There are 2 prepping stations, 3-4 surgery tables and a dental station.
The amount of hours would be up to the requirements of the student, but our typical surgery hours are about 8 hours daily M-F. There would be absolute actual doing of the work with independence based on the comfort and skill level of the student. We love working with the vet students, and they will absolutely be put in hands on as much as they want/are capable.
We would arrange housing based on what the student needs, but there would be no cost to the student.
