Description of Elective Experience:
The student will gain experience in a typical small animal veterinary practice.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
I have 1 registered veterinary technician and 8 veterinary assistants. I have digital radiology and access to a radiology referral service to read films. I have the full in-house Idexx equipment, K-laser, ultrasound machine, and high-speed dental unit. I am currently researching to purchase a dental xray machine.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
M-F 8:00am to 5:30pm. Sat 8-12N.
Of course, these hours are only approximate. We do have a local after-hours emergency clinic that is currently open about 70 percent of the time, so there would be the occasional emergency call. The student would have a day off per week.
