Experiences will include multiple facets including emergency (and STAT) animal care, client communication, interpersonal skills and buisness ownership.
We are a 24/7 small animal emergency clinic with 4 full time and two part time DVM's. We have over 25 support staff including veterinary technicians, assistants and receptionist. We use in-house Idexx Equiptment to run routine bloodwork as well as multiple SNAP tests including but not limited to bile acids, phenobarbital, cortisol, 4DX, etc. Routine UA's (Sedivue and reviewed on a slide), fecals and cytology are all performed as well. Digital radiology with a consulting service is used as well a ultrasound technician who travels to our facility for ultrasounds and ultrasound guided biopsies. We do have our own ultrasound as well used for FAST scans, etc. We perform most abdominal or soft tissue surgies but do not perform orthopedic surgery at our facility. We hospitalize and treat patients in our facility daily (anywhere from 5-20 patients are hospitalized routinely).
The student will be following my schedule which varies from week to week but will be completing at least 40hrs/week. This will defiantly include at least one weekend shift (our busiest time). They will be partaking in all facets including client communication, patient assessment, treatment plans, chart writing, assisting in surgery, etc. They will have support 100% of the time.
