The extern will rotate through 5 of the VWP small animal practices. This gives the extern the opportunity to see medical, surgical, and diagnostic services and learn from the experiences of several different veterinarians.
The VWP practices have digital and dental radiology, ultrasound, advanced dental equipment, and other resources. All of the practices typically have a registered veterinary technician on site along with other support staff. While no veterinarians possess board certification, they have a variety of experiences and interests that should be very helpful to students.
Typical work days are 8 am-5 pm Monday through Friday. If the extern would like to join us for Saturday hours, we have 2-3 offices open for 4 hours.
The student will be able to choose from several different housing opportunities. They are typically not pet-friendly though. Some housing options will include all meals, while others do not. There is no cost to the student, as VWP covers all housing costs.
