Description of Elective Experience:
We are a private practice companion animal hospital that allows students to learn under three veterinarians. We offer advanaced diagnostics, surgery, and hospitalization. We focus heavy on internal medicine and advanced surgery.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
We have 3 veterinarians, 8 veterinary assistants, 3 receptionists, and an office manager. We provide 24 hours emergency services. We have in house IDEXX diagnostic testing, ultrasound, digital x-ray, and the option to send to outside labs.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
Student is expected to be at the hospital Monday-Friday 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. and Saturday's from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. They are expected to support the veterinarians and the staff with daily duties. I expect them to be hands on with all experiences they are comfortable with.
