Helping Hands is a low cost/ high volume surgery and dentistry clinic whos mission is to prevent euthanasia precipitated by owners financial limitations. Although our services are limited to and focused on surgery and dentistry, these services are provided by experienced general practitioners (We do not have board certified surgeons or dentist on staff). Helping Hands provides an opportunity for students to shadow veterinarians in surgery and dentistry while learning to balance the challenges of providing the highest care possible within a low cost business model structure. Students are encouraged to visit our website at https://helpinghandsvetfl.com to learn more about our business model and what they can expect during their visit.
Helping Hands is staffed with experienced veterinary technicians whos focus is dentistry, surgery, and anesthesia monitoring. All surgical patients are induced, monitored, and provided with the surgical standard of care in line with progressive general practice clinics.
We are opened Monday trough Friday 8:00-6:00pm. Students will be expected to shadow and scrub in during surgery provided they are able to demonstrate sterile technique. Mentors will discuss diagnostic, anesthetic, surgical and post surgical plans for cases with the students and round on cases daily.
A stipend is available. Please contact Tracey Nowers at TNowers@unitedvetcare.com for more information.
