Description of Elective Experience:
Shadowing and participating in the day-to-day operations of a small animal general practice, including but not limited to wellcare appointment, sick pet appointments, dentistry, and surgery.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
3 full time DVMs, 1 part time DVM, 4.5 full time technicians, 3 assistants, 3 receptionists, 1 office manager. Digital x-ray, dental radiographs, full surgery and anesthesia + monitoring equipment.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
8-5 M-F, student is expected to both shadow the doctors and participate in animal care--including nursing/technician work, discussion of cases, and creating treatment/care plans. Student will participate in client discussions regarding pet care.
