Description of Elective Experience:
Calving and possibly foaling, though foaling is generally later, and semen testing bulls. Ambulatory and haul in practice.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
Large animal practitioner, 37 years experience, graduated from CSU 1986, completed Large Animal internship in 1987. Pulsator Electroejaculator, Olympus microscope, Ibex ultrasound for cattle with wand and Exago ultrasound for equine. Ford F350 with utility box for mobile practice in western Montana. Cattle are seed stock and commercial cow calf.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
Student will accompany on dystocias and calf medical intervention. Hours variable and likely long. Breeding soundness exams will be conducted on our own registered Angus bulls during that time.
