This experience provides exposure to a primary layer breeder distribution company that supplies 30-40% of the commercial laying hens to the US market. The student will get the opportunity to travel and shadow the company veterinarian(s), visit internal operations (hatcheries and breeder farms), and possibly attend commercial client technical service visits.
Hendrix-Genetics is a transnational multispecies primary breeder company. There are multiple veterinarians, geneticists, nutritionists, and industry specialists on staff.
The veterinary student extern is expected to shadow and/or support the company veterinarians on various tasks at farms, hatcheries, and other locations. They may also be assigned to shadow or support flock managers, technicians, hatchery or farm personnel during their experience.
