Gain hands on experience with a wide variety of diagnostic and treatment disciplines. As an extern you will be exposed to a large variety of cases including reproduction, healthy and sick neonatal evaluations, medicine, surgery, chiropractic, acupuncture and lameness exams. Our aim is to provide students with a realistic example of a successful ambulatory and surgical practice.
Solely equine practice with busy ambulatory and hospital components including elective and emergency surgeries including colics. Sports medicine is most common case type. Reproduction cases include fresh and frozen semen, stallion collection and embryo transfer. Disciplines included but are not limited to dressage, eventing, driving, hunter/jumper, foxhunters, racing, breeding and pleasure. In the summer of 2012, UEA completed construction of their new state-of-the-art clinic and surgical facility. The clinic features four private outpatient exam areas, ten stalls, reproduction and isolation facilities, an outdoor ring and round pen, a pharmacy and a full service laboratory. Additional equipment includes digital radiography, digital ultrasound, lameness locator, arthroscope, video endoscope and gastroscope, shockwave, power dental equipment, ECG and an in-house clinical laboratory.
