Come learn at our equine-only sports medicine practice working on Grand Prix jumper, dressage, and hunter horses! We’re based in the Tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) for the warm part of the year and Wellington FL for the winter half of the year; you get to skip the cold, and be where all the action happens.
Excellent team culture, cutting edge medicine, and top tier athletes make this a rare experience in the veterinary world. We want to pave the way for the future of the equine veterinary industry by getting students into clinical experiences early. I enjoy teaching: mentorship is key while showing the nuances of lameness, ultrasound, xray, and advanced injection techniques (hips, necks, backs, arterial stem cell perfusions, etc.) Experience best in class equipment: digital xray, shockwave, Prostride, A2M, PRP, ultrasound etc).
This elective experience is created with the mindset of setting you up for success in a sports medicine career and building relationships with the best horses, owners, trainers, and farriers in the business.
We are constantly referring cases to Cornell University and New Bolton. You will also see a lot of colleague communication between private practices: Steele and Associates, Miller and Associates, Fairfield Equine, Grand Prix Equine, Furlong and Associates, and Mid-Atlantic Veterinary practices.
Days and hours are variable--some days are 10 hours, and some days are 4. I just averaged our last two months of work days, and it averages to 8.3 hours a day. That's pretty epic for equine practice!
