Anoka Equine offers two week extenships to veterinary students throughout the calendar year. Externs will be assigned daily to one of our doctors for both in-clinic and ambulatory appointments.. Doctors will go over procedures and diagnostic techniques of the cases that are seen that day. Externs will be scheduled with all of our doctors (schedule permitting) to gain a broad learning experience. . Hands on experience is common, though depends on the experience of the student.

Type: 40% General Practice/Preventative Care, 12% Surgical, 15% Reproduction, 24% Lameness/Sports Medicine,2% Complementary, 2% Pre-PurchaseExam, 5% Internal Medicine
7 General Practitioners, 1 Vet Intern, 10 Veterinary Technicians, and 10 office staff.
16 stall hospital with surgical suite, isolation stall, and reproductive facilities; including collection phantom and semen storage. Advanced dental equipment. Diagnostic capabilities include: digital radiography, advanced ultrasound, endoscopy, gastroscopy and in house laboratory.
Externs are scheduled Monday - Saturday from 8am 'til the last appointment and contact information can be left for participation in emergency cases that come in after hours.
Must provide own tranportation to and from hospital.
No cost to student for two week stay, provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. No pets. Generally a bedroom in a staff member's or client's house, with bathroom, kitchen privileges.
