VCA offers a comprehensive externship program to veterinary students across the US. Candidates for our program would be students enrolled in their junior and senior years of veterinary school who would participate in clinical rotations over a number of weeks to meet curriculum requirements. This program is for individuals who are:
- Looking for experience in a veterinary specialty practice.
- Considering applying for an internship following graduation.
- Hard-working, self-motivated, team players.
- Currently enrolled in an AVMA-accredited university or veterinary program.
Work alongside experienced veterinary medical teams to have direct support and mentorship by doctors; doctor advisor to provide industry insight and feedback; expand technical expertise and clinical knowledge; assist with diagnostic treatment plans, discuss cases and strengthen client communication skills; practice examination skills, assist in anesthesia, surgery, radiology and more
radiograph, ultrasound, dental radiographs, soft tissue surgery, urinalysis, CBC, chemistry, ear cytology, blood smears etc.
7 veterinarians on staff with a wide range of interests and backgrounds.
Student will work 5 days a week from 8 am to 6 pm. Students are expected to answer clinical questions, assist with diagnostic treatment plans, discuss cases and communicate with clients. Depending on student's expertise, assist or perform surgery.
