Students will be involved in the day to day operations of the hospital. We provide service for small, companion, livestock and exotic/wildlife patients. The student will be assisting with surgeries, farm calls,appointments - (Hx taking,physical exams, differentials/case disscussions). The hospital also offers emergency services and the student would be involved in these cases as well. The aim is to engage students in patient care from the initial exam through diagnostics, treatment and follow ups with communications to the clients in consideration of their options and cost. We are located in rural south east Ohio - Jackson.
The practice has exam rooms for both large and small animals, as well as surgery suites for both large and small animal cases. We offer digital radiology, ultrasound, digital thermal imaging & laser therapy, laser surgery, endoscopy and a full in house idexx laboratory. The office manager has been with the practice for over twenty years. Staff are responsible for client communictions and patient care as directed by the attending doctor. The clinic utilizes Avimark software and telemedicine features of Idexx.
Student will be responsible for assisting on farm calls, & taking primary case responsibility when deemed appropriate.\Student responsibilities will also include but are not limited too:
- charting medical records
-communicating medication needs to clients
-daily case discussions
-assisting in surgeries
-physical examinations
-daily patient care
-develop diagnostic plans and treatments
The hospital dose have an in house location where students may choose to stay. The upstairs of the clinic has a large living space with full bath and bedroom.
