We are located about 2 hours east of Columbus just off I-70. New Horizon is a multi-doctor small animal hospital staffed 24 hours. We do a lot of emergencies, critical care/ ICU, soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries (bone plating but no TPLOs or THRs), chemotherapy (excluding radiation), dental surgery, preventive medicine, spays/ neuters. We work closely with several rescue organizations and animal shelters. We have always had a good relationship with Ohio State as our primary refer center and for consultations (ask Steph or Dr. Dyce if they think time at New Horizon with Dr. Puskarich or Dr. Jim Moore would be well spent). I think any student here will get practical, real world experience and enjoy the atmosphere.
Currently 4 doctors. Excellent technicians. Plenty of staff and resources. Ohio State Alumni. Digital radiography (contrast studies- Barium, IVPs, frequent consultations with Ohio State, PetRays), ultrasound, digital dental radiography, and a lot of in house blood-work. Lots of IV pumps and fluid therapy. Isolation ward. Tons of orthopedic equipment from tiny 2.0 plates to 3.5 plates and ESF equip.
I hope any student that spends time with us will find that the experience allows them to hone their technical skills, communication skills and apply their knowledge base to real world veterinary medicine. We have been in this profession a long time and have it down to an art. It would take years to share all we have learned (and continue to learn) but are certain any time spent with us will be worth while.
