Description of Elective Experience: 

VMP 982 Poultry Health Management I 

Poultry Health Management I is a clinical rotation elective for 4 th year veterinary students with an interest in poultry health management or food animal production. This two-week course is offered 4 times each year. Diseases of turkeys and chickens will be discussed. Basic concepts in poultry disease diagnosis, prevention and treatment will be emphasized. The course will consist of lectures, laboratory and field experiences.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

NC State University is an AVMA accredited veterinary college.   For this experience, Drs. Borst and Crespo will co-teach the clinical block which focuses on clinical poultry medicine and pathology. 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

This is a facutly and resident lead, 4th year clinical block which runs Monday - Friday mostly during regular business hours, with some early starts or late arrivals due to travel to local poultry production facilities.
