Description of Elective Experience:
The student will shadow veterinarians during appointments with pet owners and patients. The student will perform a physical exam when appropriate and may complete medical records under the supervision of the veterinarian. The student will observe anesthesia and surgery performed by the veterinarian. The student may perform blood draws, obtain and prepare samples for cytologies (ear, skin, FNA), give injections and perform other treatments under the supervision of the veterinarian.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
Monday-Friday, 8 am - 6 pm. Optional Saturday morning from 9 am - 1 pm.
The student will be shadowing and will have hands on experience. The student will not be scheduled to replace or perform staff responsibilites.
