Alpine Animal Hospital, WY

Description of Elective Experience: 

Student will be able to observe in any and all surgeries performed during experience and if warrented will be able to assist said surgeries.  Observe numerous small animal appointments, large animal appointments and surgeries and to help with any after hours emergencies.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Staffing includes 4-5 veterinarians, 4-8 veterinary technicians and assistants and 3-5 client service representatives.  Hospital runs in house lab work (CBC, Chemistry panels, PT/PTT test, fibrinogen, fecals and urinalysis) ultrasound (small animal and large animal), digital radiography (small animal, large animal and dental)

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

The hospital is open M-F 7:30 am to 6 PM, Saturday from 9am to 1 pm and doctors are also avaliable to clients for emergency 24/7.  Students are expected to in hospital during buisness hours during the week, if a student would like to observe on Saturday that is optional.  Doctors routinely call sutdents to observe/assist in emergencies after hours if students are interested in the opperturnity.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info): 

Two bedroom furnished apartment located above our equine facility, no cost to student.  Not pet friendly unless prior arrangements have been made.
