Description of Elective Experience: 

2.5 doctor practice located 45 minutes southeast of Columbus just outside of Lancaster, OH that offers 30% large animal (beef cattle, horses, small ruminants, swine) and 70% small animal.  We offer a fully equipped hospital, with in-house laboratory, digital radiography, ultrasound, surgical suite, equine stocks, hospitalization stalls, equine surgery suite, cattle chute and hospitalization stalls.  We are a mobile clinic, as well, and students will be expected to participate in farm calls.  

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Multiple veterinary textbooks, VIN available.  Equipment includes:  in-house laboratory (IDEXX), tonometer, Ibex ultrasound, digital radiography - including portable, surgical monitoring equipment (pulse ox, EKG, blood pressure, etc), 2 fully-equipped vet trucks with Bowie units

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Students will be expected to be present during normal business hours: M-W-F 8:30 - 5:30, T-R 8:30 - 7:00 pm, Saturdays 9-12.
