Description of Elective Experience: 

Multi-location, multi-doctor small animal practice. Exposure and instruction in out-patients, internal medicine, surgery, client and staff relations, and business administration.

With the number of doctors in our practices you will be exposed to a wide range of medical mentorship and over 35 years of experience.  Not only will you be shadowing some of Cincinnati's best veterinarians but you will also gain access to our online doctor training program that contains articles, training modules and videos made by our doctors.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Clinical year students will work approximately 40 hours/week. Under the direct supervision and approval of the attending veterinarian, students can be given the opportunity to:

  • Observe and assist DVMs
  • Establish standards of care for most frequently seen cases
  • Participate in case discussions
  • Propose a diagnostic and treatment plan
  • Record history
  • Perform physical examinations
  • List rule-outs
  • Perform major aspects of diagnostics and therapeutic procedures
  • Assist and possibly perform surgeries
