Our goal is for the student to gain real world experience with small animal medicine and surgery. We will push the student to step out of their comfort zone and not simply follow our doctor around. We will arrange for some surgeries from our local shelter to help gain more experience in spays and neuters. Gaining time in communicating with the clients is important and one we think can be difficult for students.
We have one full time veterinarian, one part time veterinarian, two registered technicians, and 6 support staff. We offer digital radiology, new dental prophy machine, in house idexx lab equipment, in house cultures and more.
Our goal is to provide as much real world experience as possible. We recommend students be present at least 30 hours per week. Saturdays are negotiable and we are flexible with their schedule. In the past we have allowed students to lead physical examinations, take care of boarding pets, participate in surgeries and shadow more complex cases. We want them to become more comfortable with the basics they will have to do in the real world.
