Description of Elective Experience: 

If you are considering a career in small animal medicine in a progressive
practice, come spend some time with the Animal Clinic team in Iowa City,
Iowa! Our doctors have over 125 years of combined experience and are
excited to share their knowledge with you! Our strong support staff and
laid-back culture will provide you with an excellent learning opportunity. We
enjoy a diverse medical and surgical caseload and are equipped with
digital radiography, in house laboratory, CO2 laser, and therapy laser.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Physical exams
Formulate treatment plans
Diagnostic interpretation
Primary surgeon - spay/neuter
Assisting surgeon
Anesthesia planning & monitoring
Dentistry - includes extractions
Hospitalized patient treatment
Maintain medical records
