Description of Elective Experience:
Animal Emergency of Gainesville is an overnight and weekend emergency hospital. The student will be exposed to all types of emergency presentations in the small animal patient.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
During a shift there is generally 1 CSR and two technicians to a doctor. There is digital radiology, ultrasound, and a fully equipped surgical suite.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
Student is expected to shadow doctors. Actively discuss cases seen, review histories and exam findings. Provide their own differential diagnosis list, diagnostic and treatment recommendations.
