Students well be imersed in a Mixed Animal hospital atmosphere with a variety of cases occuring daily. Large animal includes equine, bovine, caprine, and ovine on the road. Small animal is busy with wellness and sick animal cat and dog appointments in house, routine surgeries, radiographs, ultrasounds, and more. We also have a third branch to our practice working closely with the local animal shelter where we perform spays, neuters, and exams every day for animals getting adopted through the county. Students will be able to shadow closely with the doctors through their daily routines, many opportunities to interact with clients, and even have some possibilities to scrub in for spays and neuters.
Our hospital is well staffed with a multitude of expereinced technicians, four doctors, in house digital x-ray and mobile digital x-ray, small animal ultrasound, dental equipment, fully stocked surgery room with laser capabilities, and laser therapy.
It is expected of students to arrive daily at 8 am and stay through the duration of the day depending on the schedule of the doctor they are shadowing that day. Our hospital is open from 8 am to 7 pm Monday through Thursday, and 8 am to 5 pm on Fridays. Weekend hours and on call hours are not expected of the student, but if they want to come in they are more than welcome.
Students will have to find their own housing situation while externing at our practice.
