Description of Elective Experience: 

The student will be involved in one on one assignment with a surgeon who will be performing complex, orthopedic, and soft tissue surgeries. Duties will involve both clinical outpatient and operating room activities.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Our practice consists of six board-certified, surgeons, three surgical interns and two internal medicine specialists. We are fully staffed with licensed technicians, technician, assistance, and overnight ICU staff. Our hospital is equipped with digital radiography, ultrasonography, CT, MRI, and thermal imaging. We are fully equipped with orthopedic and soft tissue instrumentation, including that required for a minimally invasive surgery.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Students will start their day at 7 AM to evaluate patients, and then starting at 8 AM admission of surgical patients to the hospital on surgery days. Rotations will be from Monday through Friday with the weekends off. There is no on-call duties. The student will be paired with a surgeon. The student will be assisting a surgeon and closing surgical incisions.

Student that requires accommodation is available upon request. There is no fee for the accommodation. This accommodation will be at my house located on a lake nearby hospital. We do not accept pets at this accommodation. Students are required to provide their own food.
