Description of Elective Experience: 

AVEC is a very busy 24 hour emergency practice that also provides critical care for patients of the referral practices with whom we share the hospital space. These practices include referral surgery, internal medicine (including oncology and radiation oncology), cardiology, neurology and ophthalmology. Our emergency clinicians are very experienced and come from a variety of universities and internships providing varied approaches to case management. The majority of the emergency staff have completed internships.

Expect about 40 hours a week scheduled - typically have students come in about 3p-11p and some weekend hours. Students will be shadowing, but also expect to scrub into surgery and participate in minor procedures.
