We are a full-service small animal practice. Our goal is to offer and intense and informative clinical to each extern we come in contact with. Arrowhead Ranch Animal Hospital offers the extern the opportunity to work with 3 Onsite Practice Owners during the externship. The extern would be exposed to the philosophy of practicing medicine, client service expectations and methodology. The day to day schedule will mirror what they will see in a small animal practice. Surgeries and dentals in the morning, and visiting rooms in the afternoon. We would like to immerse the extern in every phase of the business. What charts look like; How to engage with a client; Shadowing surgical procedures; Building relationships and rapport with staff.
Our facility offers up to date lab, diagnostic, imaging and surgery equipment. At this moment, we are fully staffed with technicians and receptionists, so the extern would be able to shadow and support with a full supporting staff.

Our goal is to give the student a well-rounded extern experience.
Hours - We would most likely look to have the extern on-site by 8am, and shadow througout the day. Depending on surgery and appointment schedules, the extern may be there until 5pm on some days or until we close, which is 7pm. We would seek an extern schedule that would be from Mon-Fri, with weekends off.
Shadowing versus Support - Provided the extern is protected with liability insurance from the school, we would pursue the opportunity for the extern to scrub in and support with surgeries and dentals. The extern would shadow in exam room appointments.
At this time we have not established student housing for externs.
