Student will be exposed to all areas of beef cattle practice. Reproductive ultrasounding will be one area of emphasis this time of year. Student can also expect to be involved in calf preconditioning, foot care, sick animals, injuries, and salebarn inspection and services. We also do all the basic small animal, small ruminant and equine medicine and surgery. The student can expect plenty of hands on experience depending on their enthusiasm and level of competency.
We have five veterinarians ranging from 1984 to 2019 graduates. We have haul-in facilities for all species as well as multiple portable hydraulic cattle chutes, corrals and alleys for processing all types of cattle in the country. We have CBC, blood chemistry, digital radiography, machines used mostly for companion animal work. Our equine area includes a knockdon room, hydraulic surgery table, stocks, two indoor stalls, powerfloat and other dental equipment.
Student is expected to be at the clinic or with a veterinarian during regular business hours which are 8:00-5:00 M-F. The student will be asked to help with any weekend treatments and needs to be available to help with after hours emergencies as well.
We own a house for students close to the clinic which is fully furnished with propane heat and central A/C. We do not charge students for housing and we can provide a vehicle if necessary as well. Pets are welcome. It is expected that the house will be left as clean or cleaner when they leave as when they arrived.
