Description of Elective Experience:
General Practice with a focus on preventative/wellness medicine and strengthening the human-animal bond. Fear-free principles are utilized heavily at this hospital as the two full-time clinicians, Drs. Winstead and Jordan, are both Fear-Free Certified.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
2 doctor practice with trained para support professionals and one CVT.
Digital radiography, sterile surgical suite, dental cart/wet table, dental radiography, on-site bloodwork/fecal/ua/cytology, ANTECH/IDEXX support for ref-labs.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
Student is expected to shadow coach/mentor doctor schedule (typically 4 days/week, 10-12 hours per day)
