The company has multiple hospitals around the United States where veterinarians can practice based on their preferences of city and state.
At Banfield Pet Hospital we are corporate owned, and educational resources are provided online directly from the company. External C.E is paid per veterinarian's request, I'm not aware of any programs available for students except the externship programs.
The student will be assigned 32-38 hrs of scheduled shifts per week and will mirror the schedule of doctor that will be providing the orientation and shadowing during that time frame. The student will be introduced to all clinical cases presented during the day that include routine preventative care, sick patients and routine surgical procedures that include OHE, castrations, dental prophylaxis, etc. Any other surgical procedures that may require treatment at the time of presentation and assessment of the student on what he/she will consider will be the best treatment option for those patients to help guide them for his/her professional life. There are 3 more doctors in staff that the student can reach out for consultation on cases and the student is not limited to stay with the coach doctor only. Students will be provided a 1hr lunch every day and our schedule is from 8am-6 pm. Some mandatory C.E will be provided on the first day per corporate's requirements including OSHA training and Harassment policies.
