Description of Elective Experience: 

Barnesville Veterinary Hospital is a general practice veterinary hospital in Barnesville, Ohio that services primarily to clientele from Belmont county and its neighboring counties. It has a ancillary office in Woodsfield, Ohio as well.  It is a private owned hospital owned and operated by David Ralston that has 3 full time veterinarians at the Barnesville site and has historically provided services to both large (field service) and small animals. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Xray, US and blood work on site with 3 full time veterinarians and several ancillary staff.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

They are open 6 days a week including 8 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday and Saturday 8 to noon. They do take in emergencies on a case by case scenerio but do not provide overnight onsite monitoring. They are closed on Sundays and major holidays. They allow hands on interaction with the animals and also provide surgery and dentals.
