Description of Elective Experience:
BluePearl Veterinary Partners - Arizona region - is comprised of 4 locations [Avondale, Peoria, Scottsdale, and Phoenix]. The Scottsdale and Phoenix locations will have internal medicine opportunities. Otherwise, we are emergency 24 hour facilities.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
Ultrasound
Radiographs
In house laboratory capability
Doppler/PetMAP
Anesthetic machines
Etc.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
Students tend to be scheduled during dayshift hours since our most consistent senior staff are dayshift DVMs. They are scheduled 6 shifts in a two week period like a clinician. They directly work with a DVM their whole time in hospital
Students are expected to be present for day and night rounds
Pending on clinician's comfortability - client communication, SOAPs and estimates, assistance in procedures
