Brightwood Animal Hospital, OH

Description of Elective Experience:

GP small animal (k9/fel) established 2 doctor (1.75 FTE) practice offering well/preventive care, sick/injured, dentistry, soft tissue surgery and grooming. Students will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of care and the operation of the hospital working with a competent, qualified staff in an open and friendly environment.  Providing high quality care is a priority while also enjoying our work and time together.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:

We are staffed with 4 RVT's, 2 Vet Assistants, 2 Customer Service Reps (one of which is a Vet. Asst.), 2 DVMs, 1 Groomer and the Hospital Manager. Available service/equipment includes but not limited to digital xray (readings by VetRad), digital dental xray, ultrasound, surgical laser, icare Tonovet, Idexx VetLab Station and Snap-Pros, Idexx reference lab, Heska analyzers/CBC (switching to Idexx in house analyzers Dec. 2022). We utilize AVImark practice software, AllyDVM, an online store supported by Covetrus/Vet's First Choice, and have newly installed workstations (July 2022) throughout the hospital. CE is encouraged and supported financially.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:

We are willing to be flexible and work with a student's availability. Additionally, the experience would be a combination of shadowing and support based on skills and comfort level of both the student and supervising DVM.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info):

We do not have housing per se, but would be willing to help with this expense.
