Description of Elective Experience: 

We are a mixed animal (predominantly beef) practice with Veterinarians that have emphasis in area of interest of bovine, equine or small animal. The species percentages are as follows: cattle, 60%; equine 4%; small ruminants 1%; and small animal 35%. Our clinics are located in Northeast Missouri allowing us to serve Missouri, Iowa and Illinois. The student will gain experience in clinic work, farm calls, and sale barns that we service most Fridays and Saturdays in Iowa and Missouri.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Available equipment includes ultrasound, digital radiograph, haul-in facility with tip table, pneumonic floats, blood chemistry and CBC, gas anesthesia, hydraulic chutes, etc. We have two physical locations; one in Canton and one in Palmyra, MO. There are 6 practicing veterinarians along with 12 members of support team including technicians and receptionists.  

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

The student will be involved in both shadowing and actual support for both large and small animal practice. While a student is here they will work when the clinic is open for six days a week, 8-10 hours a day along with a DVM.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info): 

The clinic has housing amenities on site. There is a kitchen, bathroom and sleeping area that resembles a studio room apartment. There is no cost involved when the student chooses to stay here. Pet accommodations upon approval.
