Description of Elective Experience:
With oversight, students will be responsible for physical examinations with clients present, communicating findings and recommendations with clients, relaying lab results, performing blood draws and other technical skills, monitoring anesthesia, etc.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
Staff: 4 doctor practice with at least 2-3 doctors on shift at all times, 2-3 assistants or LVTs per doctor.
Equipment: full service hospital including abdominal ultrasound, digital radiography, dental radiography, cold laser,
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
40 hours per week which can be split as student wishes during the elective period. Initial day or two will allow for shadowing, then student may take on roll of initial exam/client communication with follow up/supervision by DVM
