The Carthage Learning and Development Center specializes in hands on and classroom training in a new mock facility that features all phases of production. Facilities include gestation, farrowing, and wean-to-finish with multiple brands of equipment providing the opportunity to visualize the differences. A unique viewing room allows participants to see ventilation in action and participate in common trouble shooting classes. The students will have access to this facility during their time in Carthage.
The students will be riding with our veterinarians to herd locations. The schedule will vary and can begin early in the morning. We expect the extern will be with our veterinarians 40-50 hours/week, Monday - Friday. The vet externs will be gaining hands-on experience on farm with a supervising veterinarian.
