Description of Elective Experience: 

Students will be involved in a program of strictly feline medicine and surgery.  The facility offers high quality medicine and surgery including complete dental and surgical services.  There is also a special emphasis on preventative Feline Medicine and correction of behavioral problems.  A high volume of broad spectrum (i.e. primary and referral) cases will be experienced by the student.  Students are encouraged to participate in all aspects of the practice including a full discussion of practice management.

  • 2 full time and 1 part time veterinarians. Fully trained support staff, licensed veterinary technicians 
  • Current library of periodicals
  • Large collection of references and/or textbooks
  • Fully computerized with internet access
  • Digital x-ray and digital dental x-ray
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

The clinic is open Monday through Saturday.  There is access to a veterinarian by a student at least 9 hours on a weekday (more on some days) and at least 6 hours on Saturday.  Students are directly involved in appointments and surgeries, shadowing a veterinarian or assisting according to where they are in their studies.  Complicated or interesting cases are always brought to the attention of the student and questions and suggestions are encouraged.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info): 

Students are provided a small efficiency apartment located in the clinic and a weekly stipend of $50.00.
