Clarkesville Veterinary Hospital, GA

Description of Elective Experience:

We are a busy small animal practice in northeast Georgia. We offer 24-7 emergency services as well. We see wellness and sick appointments as well as routine and non-routine surgeries.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:

We have 11 trained veterinary assistants. Our equipment includes digital radiographs, ultrasound and endoscopy.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:

Students will be present Monday through Friday 7:30am - 6:00pm and Saturday 7:30am - 1:00pm. After 6pm on weekdays and 1pm on Saturday we go into our emergency hours. Students will need to be available after hours during the week to help triage and assist in emergencies. Students will be able to explore and visit nearby attractions after closing on Saturday. We allow our students to see routine appointments and perform routine surgeries. Students may also assist in any non-rountine appointment or surgery.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info):

We have a conference room that is available with a cot free of charge. We also have washers/dryers, staff bathroom with shower, and a kitchen with refrigerator. We do ask that our students do not bring any animals with them.
