Cochranton Veterinary Hospital, PA

Description of Elective Experience:

We are an AAHA accredited practice, and have been so for 27 years. This is a general small practice hospital, but are high volume for a rural area and rarely do any referrals out of hospital. We have a mixture of routine elective surgical procedures, and moderate internal medicine load. Available equipment includes in-house labs, ultrasound, digital radiography, including dental radiography, and radiosurgery.

I would expect an upcoming veterinary candidate to be able to take exam histories, perform exams, etc  and have the ability to participate in routine surgery with supervision and anesthetic monitoring.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:

3 doctor practice with licensed tech staff.....see above for equipment, etc. we also handle our own emergencies, but do not offer continuous care with full staff.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:

Since, this is a 2 week rotation, we would expect daily contact, full-time, unless there is a limited schedule. We are open M-Sat; half day Saturday, 8-7 M/T; 8-5 remaining days.
