The student will be immersed in a general practice environment, collaborating closely with a licensed veterinarian. Responsibilities will encompass taking patient histories, conducting examinations, and formulating comprehensive diagnostic and treatment plans. Additionally, the student will take the lead in communicating with clients regarding admitted patients. Depending on demonstrated capability, the student may have the opportunity to perform minor elective surgeries under supervision. Feedback will be provided on a daily basis, offering recommendations and commendations to enhance performance and learning.
Collingswood Animal Hospital boasts a dedicated team comprising 3 full-time veterinarians and 16 support staff members. Our facility is equipped with 6 exam rooms, a spacious treatment area, 2 wet tables, and a fully-functional operating room. We pride ourselves on our advanced technology, including digital X-ray and dental X-ray capabilities, a comprehensive in-house laboratory, 4 anesthesia machines, a tonometer, PetMAP, and an array of monitoring equipment and fluid pumps.
The student will be expected to dedicate 40 hours per week working alongside one of our veterinarians. They will have direct interaction with clients during office visits. Collaborating closely with the doctor, the student will participate in conducting examinations, devising diagnostic plans, and formulating treatment strategies. They will have the opportunity to perform minor elective surgeries and provide assistance during more complex procedures. Additionally, the student will engage in technical tasks including blood draws, catheterization, and setting up fluid pumps and monitors.
