Cornell University Hospital for Animals

Description of Elective Experience: 

The Extern student will be part of a 2 or 4 weeks clinical rotation with 3rd and 4th year Cornell veterinary students.  Cases will be received 5 days per week.                       The student will be involved with all aspects of patient triage, diagnostics and medical and surgical treatment.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

All clinical resources that are available to Cornell students will be available to the Extern.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Patient triage, care and discharge and active participation in case rounds. A short case presentation may be required the last day of the roation.  Extern students are expected to take on case responsibilities as Cornell students.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info): 

Off campus housing only.  Temporary housing list will be provided once Externship is approved.
